Home Improvement Tips:
1. You must establish what part of your home you are interested in improving while also reviewing what company you might select in doing your home improvement work.
2.Researching several home improvement contractors can only better familiarize you with the process and also provide you with possible new ideas or options you had not considered.
3. Review how your home improvement might effect other parts of your home with your vendors. Will your project require that other areas of your home be manipulated or changed to accomodate your original vision.
4. Once you have decided on a well researched home improvement strategy then it's time look over any contracts or agreements that need to be signed between you and your chosen vendor.. These agreements are important to establish guidelines for expectations and to control costs and schedules.
5. It may be a good idea to have an attorney look over your home improvement agreement for you, especially if it happens to be a larger project.
6. Review all home improvement costs and expectations carefully.
7. Make sure you receive at least two quotes from different home improvement vendors.
8. Always ask your vendors to provide references of other customers they have worked for.
9. Arrange a payment schedule with your general contractor that makes sense. Don't pay your vendor in full prior to them doing any work. Some vendors ask for a deposit that covers most of the materials they might need to purchase prior to starting. Keep in mind that you want to be fair to your contractor, but at the same time they should also not expect to be paid in full until the project has been completed to whatever your agreed upon expectations were.
10. There are many more tips or ideas we can add, but the last one we would suggest is to be comfortable with your decision on any home improvement project; be comfortable with the cost, schedule, home improvement company and your agreement.
